The most important thing that users need to pay attention to in daily maintenance of excavators is the use and replacement of lubricating oil. Basic lubricating oil basically needs to be checked every day and replaced every 1-3 days according to the needs of different working environments. The use and replacement of lubricating oil is very important. For jobs with a relaxed working environment and low dust, it can be replaced within three days. However, if the working environment is harsh, with dust, sand, gravel or hydraulic crushing, etc., if necessary, the lubricating oil should be replaced in key areas every day, and the lubricating oil should be replaced in local areas every two days.
In order to reduce the burden of lubricant replacement, electric lubricant replacement is the most convenient, not only time-consuming, but also easier for personnel. TD’s important reminder here is that the entire lubrication part must be completely replaced and cleaned after being used in harsh environments for more than 500 hours. Lubrication can reduce contact wear of the excavator, reduce metal fatigue and increase service life. The loss of excavators caused by excessive wear is very fatal. Individual users need to always pay attention to the fact that corporate users have a large number of equipment and need to provide professional maintenance staff to perform regular maintenance and inspections on the equipment.
1. Excavator lubricant maintenance cycle
The lubricating oil maintenance intervals of excavators vary depending on the working conditions and usage environment. In general, follow these recommendations for maintenance:
1. Check the level and quality of hydraulic oil and diesel engine oil every 50 hours or weekly. If the oil is found to be deteriorated or contaminated, it should be replaced immediately.
2. Replace the air filter element every 100 hours or monthly. At the same time, check and clean the air filter housing to ensure that the air intake is unobstructed.
3. Replace hydraulic oil and diesel engine oil every 250 hours or quarterly. At this time, the hydraulic tank and diesel engine oil pan should also be cleaned to remove sediments.
4. Carry out comprehensive lubricant maintenance every 500 hours or half a year, including replacing all lubricants, cleaning oil circuits, checking seals, etc.
2. How to lubricate the excavator daily
1. Check and add lubricating oil regularly. According to the requirements of the excavator instruction manual, regularly check the lubricating oil level in each part and add qualified lubricating oil in time.
2. Use appropriate grease. Special grease should be used for lubrication of the excavator's slewing bearing, bucket rod connecting pin and other parts. The selection of grease should be determined based on the use environment and working conditions.
3. Clean the oil circuit regularly. Due to the harsh working environment of excavators, impurities and moisture are easily mixed into the oil lines. Therefore, regular cleaning of the oil line and keeping the oil line unimpeded are the keys to ensuring the normal operation of the excavator.
3. Precautions
1. Select the appropriate lubricant. When the excavator is working, various components such as the engine and hydraulic system need to bear a greater load, so lubricants with moderate viscosity, good antioxidant properties, and strong anti-wear properties should be selected. Excavators of different brands and models should use corresponding special lubricants.
2. Avoid mixing different brands of lubricants. Because there are so many lubricant brands on the market, there may be differences in their formulations and performance. Mixing lubricants from different brands can result in reduced performance or even equipment damage.
3. Pay attention to the service life of the lubricating oil. Lubricating oil will gradually oxidize and deteriorate during storage and use, so you should pay attention to check the factory date and service life of the lubricating oil to avoid using expired lubricating oil.
4. Keep the lubricant clean. Before adding lubricating oil, make sure that the filling port and container are clean and free of foreign matter. During use, if any abnormal phenomena such as the lubricating oil turning black or having a peculiar smell are found, it should be replaced in time.
4. Recommended lubricant brands
There are many brands of lubricants on the market, and their quality varies. When choosing lubricants, it is recommended to refer to the following points:
1. Choose lubricants from well-known brands, such as Shell, Mobil, Castrol, etc. These brands have a long history, mature technology and guaranteed product quality.
2. Select the appropriate lubricant model according to the excavator’s usage environment and working conditions. For example, for high temperature and heavy load conditions, you can choose lubricants with higher viscosity and good oxidation resistance; for low temperature and light load conditions, you can choose lubricants with lower viscosity and good fluidity.
3. Refer to the excavator manufacturer’s recommendations. Manufacturers of different makes and models of excavators often recommend brands and models of lubricants that are suitable for their equipment. When choosing a lubricant, consider these recommendations to ensure optimal protection of your equipment.
There are many details in daily use of excavators, but it is not troublesome. As long as you properly grasp the habits of using excavators and formulate a good maintenance plan, it is a very good habit for both the user and the excavator. An important reminder here is that lubricating oil cannot completely avoid wear. If equipment wear occurs during daily use, it needs to be replaced as soon as possible to avoid losses caused by wear and tear.
